Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif departed Islamabad today for Switzerland, leading a high-level delegation. The Prime Minister, accompanied by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, is due to attend technical-level talks in Bergenstock, Switzerland, on June 21, 2026.
These discussions follow the recent signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding; the technical talks in Bergenstock are intended to build on that agreement and work through detailed implementation issues. The delegation left amid focused preparations and a sense of urgency to advance the agenda.
Meanwhile, an Iranian delegation has also departed for Switzerland to hold ceasefire talks, and the US Vice President is expected to travel to Switzerland as well.
