US Vice President JD Vance has departed for Switzerland to take part in high-stakes talks with Iran.
He says he expects to remain in Switzerland for a day or two. The stated purpose of the visit is to make concrete progress on Iran’s nuclear file and to push forward negotiations toward a ceasefire in Lebanon.
Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are already in Switzerland, and Qatari representatives will also join the discussions.
The next round of Iran–US talks is scheduled to take place in Switzerland today.
