The Election Commission rejected the Sindh government’s request to postpone the local elections.
According to the spokesperson of the Provincial Election Commission, the local government elections will be held on January 15 as per the schedule.
In the ongoing declaration of the Election Commission, the Sindh government has been directed to make fool-proof arrangements for peaceful elections.
A meeting was held in the Election Commission of Pakistan under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja to consider the request for postponement of local elections.
According to sources, Secretary Election Commission Umar Hameed participated in the meeting through video link.
Election Commissioner Sindh Ijaz Anwar also participated in the meeting through video link
Earlier an important meeting was held in the Election Commission of Pakistan under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, in which Sindh’s application and notifications were considered.
The Election Commission declared that the elections in Karachi Division, Hyderabad and other districts will be held on January 15 as per the schedule.
