There is more of an intentions crisis than an economic crisis: Khalid Maqbool

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, has called for the establishment of a parliamentary committee to investigate election fraud claims.

During the National Assembly session, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui appealed to the Prime Minister to set up a parliamentary committee and a judicial commission to look into the accusations of rigging in the 2024 elections made by the opposition parties. He emphasized that their legacy dates back to 1947, not just Form 47.

He pointed out that the Tehreek-e-Insaf party, victorious in 2018, has faced defeat in 2024.

The MQM leader remarked that some suggest they have faced defeat just as they did in 2018, and that the same outcome awaits them in 2024.

He stressed the importance of dialogue among political entities, warning that without it, outside forces might impose their will, which is not how democracy functions.

Lastly, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui advocated for following the route of the constitution and law rather than resorting to uproar.

He emphasized the need to impose taxes on feudal lords if agriculture is not taxed. Moreover, he stated that decentralizing power to the district level is the true solution for a robust democracy.

He mentioned that Pakistan’s real challenge isn’t the economy or financial crises, but rather a lack of sincerity in intentions.
