Bilawal Bhutto condemns raid on Mehmood Achakzai’s residence

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) representative Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while addressing the National Assembly, deferred his speech to allow Mehmood Khan Achakzai to speak first.

He examined the recent search operation at both the Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister Achakzai’s residences.

He expressed concern about efforts to discredit the presidential election, forcefully stating, ‘I outright reject these tactics; the Prime Minister must address this issue. I will speak after Achakzai has had his turn.’

‘The Speaker of the National Assembly was not given prior notice. Should such incidents occur, the Prime Minister is expected to communicate with Balochistan,’ stated the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reflected, ‘An old English saying tells us that history tends to repeat itself.’

Bilawal continued, ‘The strength of Parliament is essential; reinforcing it empowers the citizens. Conversely, undermining Parliament would diminish the public’s strength.’

‘Our elders should make choices that pave the way for a prosperous future for the younger generation. The hostile exchanges during the speeches of the Prime Minister and the opposition leader are regrettable,’ he further noted.

During Bilawal Bhutto’s address, PTI MNA Jamshed Dasti cut in, prompting the PPP to secure ministerial positions in Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet. To this, Bilawal responded, ‘If you all join the government, then we’ll consider it as well.’

Bilawal Bhutto has urged against turning the Presidential elections into a controversy.

He emphasized the importance of collective action, saying, ‘We need to undertake judicial and electoral reforms. I invite you to discuss these matters and share your concerns with us. With these reforms in place, Pakistan will be strong against any adversities.’

Addressing the opposition, Bilawal declared, ‘If resolving this issue is your goal, then let’s engage in dialogue. Should you desire Shehbaz Sharif, or Prisoner No. 804 to be Prime Minister, let’s talk.’

Bilawal expressed his desire for a future where disputes over election fraud no longer disrupt the House, committing to efforts to eradicate electoral malpractices.

As the PPP Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has supported PTI’s proposal to establish a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 disturbances.

During a National Assembly speech, he referenced remarks by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, about the need for an inquest, stating, ‘I agree with this proposal… provided PTI agrees to honor the judicial commission’s findings… We cannot overlook assaults on our institutions and memorials to the fallen. To move our politics forward, we need to address these incidents, which is why PPP is calling on the PM to form a judicial commission… I propose Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa to lead this commission,’ said Bilawal.

He also reiterated the need for judicial and election reforms.

Bilawal appealed to the opposition, ‘I ask for your backing on these critical issues.’

He asserted that with such reforms, democratic stability would be unassailable worldwide, remarking that calls for reform were once mocked, but he pledged not to repeat such derision now. ‘Today, the discussion is on Form-47. We share the objective of halting these issues,’ stated Bilawal.
