I have no place in the current entertainment industry, Anwar Maqsood

Legendary Pakistani playwright Anwar Maqsood has expressed frustration over the content being shown in the current drama industry.

Anwar Maqsood, author of popular dramas like Fifty Fifty and Angan Teerha, has revealed in a recent interview that the reason for his distance from the entertainment industry is the content shown in today’s TV dramas.

Anwar Maqsood said that he has given up drama because there is no place for me in what is happening on television these days.

He added: “Now that ratings take precedence over good content, directors or producers are lagging behind in every way. The marketing department decides which actors are needed and which are not.

Anwar Maqsood believes that the current content on television is influenced by Indian dramas.

“When Indian dramas were shown on Pakistani screens, we thought they would learn something from our dramas, but on the contrary, our writers started learning from them and since then the decline of our drama industry has started,” he said. ۔
