
Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram, is being observed today (Friday) with due solemnity across the country, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, to commemorate the great sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), his family and companions for upholding the noble principles of Islam.
Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), along with 72 family members and companions, embraced martyrdom at Karbala while standing for justice, truth, righteousness and piety.
Zuljanah and other mourning processions for the 10th of Muharram have been held nationwide today to remember the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala.
Security has been put on high alert along procession routes to prevent any untoward incident. Routes are being monitored through CCTV cameras installed at discreet locations. A heavy contingent of police and Rangers has been deployed to ensure foolproof security.
Water and milk stands for mourners have been set up at various points along the routes.
In Karachi, the main procession began from Nishtar Park Chowrangi and, after following its route, will conclude at Hussnainia Irania Imambargha, Kharadar.
In Lahore, thousands of mourners took out the Zuljanah procession from Nisar Haveli; it is passing through its traditional routes and will end at Imambargah Gamay Shah. More than 20,000 policemen have been deployed along the route.
In Peshawar, nine small and large processions have been held. The main procession will start at 2:30 pm from Imambargah Syed Alam Shah. City routes have been completely sealed.
In Quetta, the main procession started from Alamdar Road. Main Zuljanah processions have also been taken out in Hyderabad, Sanghar, Dera Ismael Khan, Jhang and Jam Nawaz Ali.
