PPP’s Sarfraz Bugti elected as CM Balochistan unopposed

Sarfraz Bugti of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has been elected the Chief Minister of Balochistan without opposition, as reported by Aaj News.

Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai, made the announcement during a brief press conference on Friday.

‘As Sarfraz Bugti was the sole nominee for the position, he has been elected CM of Balochistan,’ he declared.

He extended his congratulations to the newly elected Chief Minister and mentioned that a formal declaration would take place in the Balochistan Assembly session on Saturday.

Previously, the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had collectively chosen Sarfraz Bugti for the chief ministerial post in accordance with an agreement to establish a federal government and a coalition government in Balochistan.

After filing his nomination, Bugti expressed his gratitude to the PPP’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for their confidence in him.

Sarfraz Bugti, previously holding the roles of interior minister during the interim government and provincial home minister in Nawab Sana Ullah Zehri’s cabinet, had joined the PPP prior to the general elections.
