Murad Ali Shah elected Sindh CM for third time

The Pakistan People’s Party’s nominated candidate, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has been elected as the Chief Minister of Sindh for the third time.

He now stands as the 25th Chief Minister to be elected in Sindh.

The Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Syed Owais Qadir Shah, announced the results, revealing that Syed Murad Ali Shah secured 112 votes out of the total 148, leaving his opponent, the MQM-nominated candidate Ali Khursheedi, with 36 votes.

This election is notable for the significant margin of 112 votes, marking a first for any Chief Minister’s election in Sindh.

Following the election, leaders from both PPP and MQM addressed the House to extend their congratulations to Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Their consensus was that Syed Murad Shah has rightfully earned this victory due to his commendable performance across his previous two terms, most notably during the COVID pandemic and subsequent floods.

The Governor of Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori, is scheduled to administer the oath to the newly elected Chief Minister tomorrow.

The Governor’s spokesman has confirmed that the oath-taking ceremony will take place at the Governor House.
