Imran Khan nominates Ali Amin Gandapur for KP CM slot, forms alliance with JI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on Tuesday nominated former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur as his party’s candidate for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister.

“KP’s chief minister will be Ali Amin Gandapur,” said the former prime minister while speaking to journalists in Adiala jail, where he is currently incarcerated in a number of cases.

Before his tenure at the federal level, Gandapur was a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2013 to 2018.

During his time in the provincial assembly, he held the position of Provincial Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Revenue.

Gandapur hails from a politically active Pashtun family in Dera Ismail Khan, with his father, Major (retd) Aminullah Gandapur, also having served in politics.

His brother, Sardar Faisal Amin Khan Gandapur, is also involved in politics, further highlighting the family’s political influence.

Gandapur’s educational background includes early schooling at Saint Helens High School, Dera Ismail Khan, and later matriculation from the Police Model School in Peshawar.

He pursued his BA (honors) from Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan, showcasing a commitment to both education and his political career.
