Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited Turkish companies to increase their investments in Pakistan, highlighting opportunities across key sectors including energy, mining and minerals, infrastructure, maritime services, logistics, information technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, agriculture and privatisation.
The invitation came during a series of meetings with senior executives of Türkiye’s leading business groups and industry organisations in Istanbul as part of the prime minister’s official visit to the country.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Türkiye and attracting greater foreign investment through a business-friendly environment.
He emphasised the long-standing brotherly ties between Pakistan and Türkiye and said both countries should translate their strong political relationship into deeper economic and commercial partnerships.
The prime minister also highlighted Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic indicators and ongoing economic reforms, assuring investors that the government remains committed to maintaining a transparent, predictable and investor-friendly business climate.
Shehbaz said the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) continues to provide one-window facilitation and institutional support to both local and international investors, coordinating with federal and provincial authorities.
During a meeting with Çalık Holding Chairman Ahmet Çalık, the prime minister discussed investment opportunities in Pakistan’s energy, infrastructure, information technology and privatisation sectors and welcomed the company’s interest in expanding its presence in the country.
In separate talks with representatives of the Albayrak Group, Shehbaz urged the company to increase investment in maritime infrastructure, port modernisation and logistics, recognising its contribution to Pakistan’s transport and connectivity sectors.
He also met the president of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), praising the organisation’s efforts to boost business-to-business cooperation between the two countries.
He proposed creating a structured mechanism for regular engagement between Pakistan’s and Türkiye’s private sectors and invited TOBB to lead a high-level business delegation to Pakistan to explore new investment opportunities.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Turkish business leaders expressed confidence in Pakistan’s improving economic outlook and reiterated their interest in expanding investments and forming long-term partnerships across several strategic sectors.
The meetings followed the signing of three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and Türkiye last week to enhance institutional collaboration, technical cooperation and knowledge sharing in the power sector during high-level consultations in Istanbul.
Prime Minister Shehbaz arrived in Türkiye on Friday at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after attending the funeral of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in Tehran.
