
Russian Foreign Ministry says Russia is ready to mediate to resolve the conflict in Iran and to help ensure peace in the region.
The ministry says Russia is determined to continue strategic relations with Iran. President Vladimir Putin told Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi that he will do everything possible in the interests of Iran and the countries of the region.
Putin and Araqchi met, and the Russian news agency reports that Putin said he had received a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader. He expressed his best wishes to the Supreme Leader and asked Araqchi to convey them.
He said he hopes the Iranian people will overcome this difficult period and that peace will be established, and reiterated that Russia will do everything possible in the interests of Iran and regional states.
Araqchi said Russia-Iran relations are based on a strategic partnership that will continue to strengthen. He thanked Russia and President Putin for their support, and Putin said Russia intends to continue strategic relations with Iran.
