PML-N emerges leading party in National Assembly with 108 seats

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the standings for the National Assembly seats, placing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the lead with the highest number of seats.

The ECP reports that the PML-N has claimed 84 general seats, 20 designated for women, and four for minorities, totaling 108 seats and establishing it as the leading party in the National Assembly.

Following in rank, the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has become the second lead party, particularly with the support of independents allied with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The SIC now has 81 seats, but the allotment of additional reserved seats is still to be concluded by the ECP.

Securing third place, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has acquired 68 seats, including 54 general, 12 for women, and two for minorities.

The Muttahida Qumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) is the fourth major party having 17 general, four women’s, and one minority seat. The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) stands fifth with six general and one women’s seat.

The Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) are positioned sixth and seventh in the assembly, with four and three seats respectively, each gaining one women’s seat as well.

The Awami National Party (ANP) did not win any seats in the National Assembly.

Of the ten seats for minorities, the ECP has confirmed seven, with the PML-N and the PPP receiving four and two seats accordingly, and the MQM-P obtaining one. Discussions are ongoing for the remaining three minority seats.
