Pakistan sealed the three-match One-Day International series against Australia with a commanding four-wicket victory in the third and final ODI at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday, completing the chase with 49 balls to spare and clinching the series 2-1.
The match had been delayed earlier by rain and gusting winds, but when play resumed Pakistan produced a composed and clinical display. Australia were restricted to 157 all out in 42 overs as the home attack found consistent grip and tempo.
Australia captain Josh Inglis top-scored with a gritty 65 off 71 deliveries, while Alex Carey (19 off 32) and Marnus Labuschagne (19 off 39) offered only sporadic resistance. No other batter managed to post a substantial innings as Pakistan maintained control throughout the innings.
Pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi led the charge with an impressive 3-30 from eight probing overs. Abrar Ahmed provided crucial support with a miserly 2-19 from a full ten-over spell, and Shadab Khan chimed in with two wickets, finishing with 2-28 from nine overs.
In reply Pakistan chased with steady intent, reaching 161-6 in 41.5 overs to wrap up the series and leave little doubt about their superiority on the night.
