The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has declared that the new moon of Shawwal has been observed, and as such, Eidul Fitr will be celebrated in Pakistan tomorrow, Wednesday.
The committee, under the leadership of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in Islamabad, convened to deliberate on the moon sighting.
In a press briefing following the assembly, Maulana Khabir confirmed that they had received reports of the moon being sighted in various parts of the country, signaling that Eid will be celebrated on April 10th.
Maulana Azad noted the moon’s visibility in regions including Karachi, Dir, Faisalabad, Skardu among others, and extended his congratulations to the citizens, remarking that the coinciding of Eid celebrations promoted a message of unity among the Islamic community.
Distinguished representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), in addition to zonal members from Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar, all played roles in the discussions.
