Iran denies attacking South Korean ship in Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian Embassy in South Korea, in a statement, categorically rejected all allegations of Iranian armed forces’ involvement in the incident.
The Iranian embassy has said that after the attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel, Tehran has repeatedly made it clear that the Strait of Hormuz is an important part of its defensive sphere and that full compliance with relevant laws is necessary for safe passage through this route.
The Iranian embassy has warned that if the established rules and ground realities are ignored, unintended incidents may occur and the responsibility for such a situation will lie with those parties who continue activities in the area without taking precautionary measures.
According to a foreign news agency, an explosion and fire occurred on a Panama-flagged cargo ship on Monday, with 24 people on board.
US President Donald Trump later claimed that Iran had fired on the plane.
He urged South Korea to join US operations to restore maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
To which South Korea said it would review the issue of joining the US naval operation.
Later, South Korea’s national security adviser said in a statement yesterday that this review was no longer needed after the suspension of Project Freedom.
