Mushtaq Khan, a distinguished Indian actor and comedian renowned for his iconic portrayal in the Bollywood film Welcome, passed away at age 75.
According to his son Mohsin, Mushtaq Khan had been undergoing cancer treatment at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai when he died on Thursday, as reported by the Press Trust of India (PTI).
Khan launched his acting career with the 1980 film Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai? and subsequently appeared in over 500 films throughout his extensive career.
His extensive body of work encompassed acclaimed films including Hera Pheri, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.
Nevertheless, Khan experienced a resurgence in popularity following Welcome (2007), where he played Ballu, a devoted associate of Uday Shetty. His subtle comedic timing rendered the character exceptionally noteworthy.
Among the film’s most iconic moments is a scene depicting Ballu recounting the circumstances of losing his leg due to offending Uday. This dialogue subsequently achieved viral status among audiences and circulated extensively on digital platforms, amplifying Khan’s contemporary internet prominence.
Following his death announcement, accolades emerged from numerous colleagues in the entertainment industry.
Actor Rajpal Yadav honored Khan through social media tributes. Yadav mentioned encountering the comedian mere hours before his passing and recollected exchanging handshakes and conversation with him.
Yadav conveyed shock regarding Khan’s unexpected demise, characterizing him as an esteemed performer and professional associate while acknowledging the profound difficulty of accepting this loss.
