Government employees up to Grade 16 will be offered electric bikes on easy instalments, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed on Wednesday, urging a faster and more coordinated push for the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) across the country.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting in Islamabad to review measures to promote EVs nationwide.
‘In light of the current regional situation and future needs, promoting electric vehicles will not only reduce the burden of fuel imports but will also play a key role in environmental protection and energy security,’ he said.
The premier further instructed that transparency be ensured in the subsidies provided for electric motorcycles to low-income individuals under the National EV Policy, and that the implementation of this scheme be expedited with clear accountability and timely oversight.
