Electricity rates in Karachi and other regions of the country could rise by Rs1.34 per unit for a period of three months due to the quarterly adjustment mechanism, as stated by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
NEPRA has indicated that the electricity price per unit may see an increase of Rs1.34 under this quarterly adjustment mechanism. This proposed hike is anticipated to be in effect for three months.
The authority has yet to make a decision regarding the request made by electricity distribution companies. NEPRA will announce its decision following a thorough review of the request.
Sources suggest that if the proposed adjustment is approved, it would impose an additional financial burden of Rs34 billion on electricity consumers.
