International recognition has reportedly been bestowed upon Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his mediatory role in fostering peace across the region.
A US television report credits his diplomatic engagement with helping to move Iran–US negotiations closer to a final outcome, saying his visit to Tehran played a key role in bringing the talks to a decisive stage.
Against the backdrop of a tense and volatile Middle East—where Gulf countries and Lebanon form part of a wider conflict environment—the report says Pakistan managed to help finalize a draft framework. Following Field Marshal Munir’s return from Tehran, the proposed draft was forwarded to leaders in Iran and the United States for review.
During the visit, Pakistan’s military leadership held in-depth meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and the Speaker of Parliament, where detailed and productive discussions reportedly took place.
A US media outlet reported that both the United States and Iran have expressed confidence in Field Marshal Asim Munir. The coordination between Pakistan’s political and military leadership, the outlet added, has remained a pivotal factor in the mediation process.
The report also claimed that US President Donald Trump had previously referred to Asim Munir as “my favorite field marshal,” noting that Pakistan’s civilian government and military leadership had earlier played a significant role in reducing tensions during negotiations held in Islamabad.
The American television report further observed that Pakistan has historically played a vital diplomatic role, at times facilitating dialogue and ties between the United States and China.
