A group of suspects allegedly affiliated with the prestigious Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), the Indian intelligence agency, has been apprehended in Karachi. This arrest was made possible through a meticulously coordinated joint operation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh and federal security agencies.
During a news conference held with much anticipation in Karachi on Saturday, Additional Inspector General CTD Sindh Azad Khan revealed that on July 8, four individuals were detained in connection with the chilling target killing of a 45-year-old man in Badin that occurred on May 18.
The unsettling revelation of the RAW-linked network’s existence emerged during intense interrogations.
Providing more details during the murder investigation, Azad explained that crucial closed-circuit camera footage was recovered. This footage unmistakably captured three of the suspects, who were later positively identified by eyewitnesses.
Two of the suspects were arrested and the pistol for killing the man was recovered from their possession, he said.
The CTD AIG said it came to light during investigation the murder was orchestrated by an Indian agent named Sanjay Sanjeev Kumar, also known as “Fauji”, who lives in a Gulf state.
The mastermind of the murder RAW agent recruited two Pakistani citizens, Salman and Arsalan, who were working in a Gulf state, he said.
Azad said Salman formed a group of target killers that included Shakeel, Obaid, Sajjad, and Umair.
RAW financed the terrorists and target killers by sending money through bank remittances, he said, adding Sanjay oversaw the operation from abroad.
According to the AIG, compelling evidence has emerged revealing RAW’s involvement in a series of bombings and terrorist attacks throughout Karachi and other cities.
“RAW orchestrated financial and logistical aid to support the terrorist network. An operational base for RAW terrorists was established in Karachi, coordinating assassinations and terror plots from abroad,” he asserted.
Authorities recovered a bomb, 9mm pistols, 30-bore pistols, and an astounding 125 mortar shells from the suspects, who confessed to collaborating with RAW. They admitted to orchestrating terrorist operations in Karachi with the financial backing of RAW, he detailed.
