US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran is willing to make a deal to end the war, while Tehran has further hardened its stance by offering new conditions in response to the US proposal.
According to the Tasnim news agency, affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Tehran has sent an official response to the US’s 15-point peace plan and is now awaiting Washington’s response.
According to an Arab media report, Iranian authorities have made several key demands for a ceasefire, including an end to attacks on Iranian leadership, compensation for war losses, a guarantee of no future war, and an end to hostilities by all resistance groups in the region.
On the other hand, Donald Trump, while making a statement on social media, said that Iran is begging for a ceasefire, agreement, and negotiations, and that the US and Israel have completely destroyed Iran’s navy and air force.
In his statement, he announced that attacks on Iranian energy facilities would be halted for 10 days, until April 6.
US Vice President JD Vance has also claimed that Iran’s conventional military capability has been largely destroyed and it no longer has the same offensive power as before.
Meanwhile, US special envoy Steve Witkoff has said that there are indications that Iran wants to return to negotiations and that several countries, including Pakistan, are mediating to end the war.
Arab media say that Iran has rejected the American position, claiming that the United States wants to mislead world opinion by giving the impression of peace talks and is preparing for a possible ground operation.
According to Iranian officials, the US bombing during the negotiations has severely damaged trust.
Reuters news agency has claimed in a report that Israel has removed the names of some Iranian leaders from its list of potential negotiators after Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
According to Al Jazeera, despite strong statements from both sides, diplomatic contacts are continuing behind the scenes and the next few weeks could prove decisive regarding war or peace.
