Iran has accused Israel of carrying out an assault on a Kuwaiti desalination plant.
In a formal release, the Iranian military’s Khatm al-Anbiya command held Israel responsible for conducting the attack, accusing it of exploiting the episode to incriminate Iran.
The statement described the action as emblematic of ‘‘the brutal aggression of the Israeli government and the depravity of the Zionist occupiers,’’ casting the episode in strongly condemnatory terms.
Earlier coverage said the plant sustained severe damage and that an Indian worker was killed. Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity reported that an attack on a service building caused extensive damage and resulted in the death of an Indian employee.
The ministry added that emergency and technical crews rushed to the site to repair the damage and work to restore normal operations.
