The nation is commemorating Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day today with great enthusiasm and passion, reaffirming its commitment to uphold the ideals of the Pakistan Movement and strive towards establishing the country as a genuine Islamic welfare state.
The celebrations commenced with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital, accompanied by 21-gun salutes at provincial headquarters. Special prayers were also conducted in mosques, seeking peace, unity, prosperity, and progress for the nation.
Flag-hoisting ceremonies are taking place at federal, provincial, divisional, and district headquarters throughout the country.
Buildings, streets, markets, and public spaces have been adorned with national flags, bunting, and vibrant lights, creating a festive atmosphere in cities and towns.
A variety of programs, including seminars, exhibitions, cultural events, and other activities, have been organized to honor Independence Day and recognize the sacrifices made by the nation’s ancestors.
A Change of Guard ceremony is also taking place at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi.
In their messages for this occasion, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces; Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff; and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, conveyed their warm congratulations to the nation on the 79th Independence Day on behalf of the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
