The federal government has implemented another increase in petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices, effective September 17, through its daily petroleum pricing mechanism. Both essential fuels have experienced price escalation during this period.
Petrol prices have risen by Rs6.88 per litre, reaching Rs391.22, whereas diesel prices have increased by Rs5.62 per litre to Rs421.45. This adjustment represents the second price revision in consecutive days, as a similar increase was announced on September 16, reflecting the ongoing upward trajectory of domestic fuel costs.
These price modifications were announced pursuant to the government’s daily fuel pricing framework, which enables domestic petroleum rates to adjust promptly in response to fluctuations in international oil markets.
The pricing structure operates on a seven-day rolling average of international market quotations. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) holds the responsibility for announcing daily ex-depot prices applicable to major petroleum products.
