Twelve terrorists were killed and 15 personnel—including 12 soldiers, two police officers, and a forest department official—were martyred during a terrorist attack on a joint police check post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district, the ISPR said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, the attack occurred during the night of July 23-24 when militants from the “Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij” tried to storm the post. Security forces quickly repulsed the assault and killed 12 terrorists during the subsequent pursuit.
In a desperate attempt to cause damage, the attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the check post’s perimeter wall. The massive blast caused severe damage and resulted in the martyrdom of the 15 personnel.
A clearance operation is currently underway to eliminate any remaining militants in the area.
The ISPR stated that security forces will continue their nationwide counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism. “The sacrifices of our brave soldiers further reinforce our unwavering commitment to safeguarding our nation at all costs,” the statement concluded.
