U.S. Supreme Court declares President Donald Trump’s executive order null and void.
In a landmark decision, the Court invalidated the president’s attempt to end birthright citizenship, ruling that the constitutional guarantee of citizenship by birth must be preserved.
At the same time, the Justices ruled that states may prohibit transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports, giving state governments authority to set such policies.
President Trump called the rulings a “big victory,” and the White House posted a photo of the president on social media after the decision with the caption: “There are no men in women’s sports.”
