President Donald Trump announced Wednesday morning on Truth Social a sweeping, immediate economic penalty: any country that supplies military weapons to Iran will face a 50% tariff on all goods it sells to the United States. He described the measure as uncompromising and effective without delay.
“A country supplying military weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed on any and all goods sold to the United States of America—50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions!” he wrote, emphasizing the policy’s immediate effect.
In a separate post, Trump wrote that there would be “no enrichment of uranium,” and that the United States would, “working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) nuclear ‘dust.'”
He added that the United States will work closely with Iran, “which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive regime change!”
He said the two countries will discuss tariff and sanctions relief.
On Tuesday, Trump announced a tentative two-week cease-fire in the conflict — a pause that would also affect Israel — conditioned on Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian government published its terms for the deal, listing demands that include Iran controlling the Strait of Hormuz; the complete lifting of all sanctions; the withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from the region; an end to hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon; and the “payment of compensation to Iran.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi said Trump accepted Iran’s plan “as a general framework.” Iran had earlier rejected a separate 15-point plan from Washington.
