
Late on Wednesday night, police successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on the Khatti check post on the outskirts of Dera Ismail Khan, killing two militants in a swift and decisive response.
According to DPO Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmed, the attackers opened fire on the Khatti police checkpoint. Officers stationed at the post reacted immediately, returning fire and preventing the assailants from breaching the barrier. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, two militants were killed at the scene.
The DPO confirmed that one police official sustained injuries during the clash and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment; he is reported to be out of danger.
Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmed lauded the professionalism and courage of the personnel, saying their rapid, disciplined action averted a major security incident. He reaffirmed the police department’s commitment to maintaining law and order and to taking firm measures against those who seek to disrupt peace in the region.
Security has been tightened across the area, and a thorough search operation was conducted to ensure no additional attackers remained nearby.
