
The comprehensive outcomes of the Senate elections for 11 seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been concluded, showcasing victory for six candidates backed by the government and five supported by opposition allies.
This result vividly demonstrates the potency of the meticulously agreed formula between the two factions.
In the preliminary unofficial tally, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) celebrated wins in two seats: Rubina Khalid emerged triumphant on the women’s seat, while Talha Mehmood claimed a victory on a general seat.
INDEPENDENT VICTORIES
In a sweeping portrayal of independent dominance, several candidates emerged victorious across diverse categories. Rubina Naz secured a women’s seat independently, while Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Noorul Haq Qadri, and Mirza Afridi captured general seats.
Azam Swati also achieved success independently on the technocrat seat.
PARTY-BASED RESULTS
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) witnessed Atta ul Haq Dervish seizing a general seat, with Dilawar Khan clinching a technocrat seat. The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) celebrated Niaz Ahmed’s victory on a general seat.
Aligning with the pre-determined formula, six Senate members secured positions with government support while five were backed by the opposition.
KP SENATE ELECTIONS
In a day brimming with anticipation, 145 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly cast their ballots during an extensive polling period. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had the honor of casting the final vote. Despite a measured pace, the polling was marked by peaceful proceedings.
The esteemed Assembly’s Jirga Hall was meticulously designated as the election venue, fortified by stringent security protocols. The KP Assembly is comprised of 92 government members contrasted with 53 from the opposition. To secure a general seat, candidates needed to amass a minimum of 19 votes.
