
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has chaired a meeting of leaders and representatives of parliamentary parties in Islamabad.
An in-camera briefing is being given at the Prime Minister’s House to political parties and members of parliament on the regional situation after border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and the war involving the United States and Israel against Iran.
No member of the opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is taking part in the in-camera session.
Those attending include Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gillani; Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq; Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan; Deputy Speaker National Assembly Ghulam Mustafa Shah; Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar; Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari; and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Federal ministers present include Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Attaullah Tarar, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Abdul Aleem Khan, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Syed Mustafa Kamal, Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah, and Special Assistant Talha Burki. Senators attending are Sherry Rehman, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, Manzoor Ahmed Kakar, Pervaiz Rasheed, Hafiz Abdul Karim, Faisal Sabzwari, and Jan Muhammad.
Members of the National Assembly at the meeting include Syed Naveed Qamar, Farooq Sattar, Ameenul Haque, and Polain Baloch.
