Pakistan has announced a two-day closure of certain parts of its airspace near India, as per a notice from the Pakistan Airports Authority to all airlines and aviation companies.
According to the NOTAM, the airspace will be closed from 6 am to 9 am on October 28 and 29, with a recommendation for airlines to exercise caution during this time.
The closure will affect specific routes in the Karachi and Lahore flight regions for three hours each day.
Sources informed about the situation state the decision was taken in response to potential Indian military exercises near the border with Pakistan.
Indian media reports indicate that India will conduct “Trishul 2025,” a significant tri-service combat exercise, along its western border with Pakistan from October 30 to November 10. It is reported that during this period, Indian authorities have closed parts of the airspace near Gujarat and Rajasthan owing to the large-scale drills.
This joint military exercise happens amid existing tensions between the two neighboring countries.
Due to ongoing regional tensions and security issues, Pakistan and India share a sensitive and closely monitored airspace.
Temporary airspace closures are at times implemented by either nation, especially during military exercises or heightened alert states, to ensure aviation safety and avoid any accidental violations.
