
Pakistani forces retaliated swiftly, striking Afghanistan’s border posts and terrorist hideouts across multiple border points overnight, destroying several Afghan posts, capturing 19, and inflicting heavy losses on troops and militants, the security sources on Sunday.
Sources told Geo News that Afghan forces opened unprovoked gunfire at several border points, including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, and Kurram, while attacks were also reported in Dir, Chitral, Baramcha, and others.
According to security sources, the Afghan forces’ gunfire was orchestrated to assist Khawarij factions in crossing the border into Pakistan. They confirmed that the vigilant border posts of the Pakistan Army responded with unwavering force, engaging the attacking positions with precision and effectiveness.
Amidst the fierce exchange, Afghan forces were reportedly thrown into disarray and sought Pakistan’s assistance to cease its powerful retaliatory measures after several Afghan installations, like the Duran Mela and Turkmanzai camps, were obliterated. Moreover, Pakistani forces targeted the Shahidan post, inflicting significant losses on both Afghan troops and militants, and successfully demolished positions in Kurram and Jandosar.
In a strong rebuke of Afghanistan’s aggression, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized that the war on terrorism is a collective responsibility, with its burden not resting on a single nation. Asserting Pakistan’s stance on protecting its national sovereignty, President Zardari reiterated the country’s desire to witness a stable and flourishing Afghanistan and urged Kabul to ensure its territory is not exploited by Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan.
Condemning the unprovoked aggression from Kabul, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Pakistan Army for its potent and appropriate response under the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir.
