Former Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was arrested.According to foreign media reports, KP Sharma Oli was arrested yesterday.
According to authorities, KP Sharma Oli is facing charges of failing to prevent dozens of deaths during the Gen Z-led anti-corruption protests last September. The police are investigating this matter.
Meanwhile, KP Sharma Oli’s lawyer has called his arrest illegal.
On the other hand, KP Oli’s former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhk has also been arrested.
The former prime minister’s arrest came after a panel investigating the violence during the protests recommended that a negligence case be filed against KP Oli.
Supporters of the former prime minister protested against his arrest and clashed with police.
Last September, 76 people were killed during a police crackdown, violent incidents and unrest, after which KP Oli resigned.
