Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan, has ignited a call to action, urging the nation to flood the streets on August 14. His rallying cry for ‘true freedom’ is a staunch denunciation of what he perceives as a deeply unlawful and oppressive regime.
Speaking through family intermediaries after a meeting at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, the former prime minister highlighted that there will be no replacements for the PTI leaders who faced disqualification, as he deems such actions illegal and unjust.
Aleema Khan, accompanied by her sister Uzma Khan, conveyed to the media following their encounter with Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. She expressed deep gratitude for the rare opportunity of meeting them, mentioning that they had patiently awaited outside the prison together.
Aleema unveiled that Imran Khan had inquired eagerly about the potential return of his children to Pakistan. He expressed contentment regarding the recent protests, lauding the courage of those who dared to challenge state repression.
According to her account, Imran Khan was heartened by the robust participation from citizens in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. He honored the spirit of the nation and likened the current regime’s repression to one even more severe than previous dictatorships. Reflecting on historical challenges, he reportedly stated, ‘Yahya Khan split the nation to cling to power—today, we’re perilously near a similar precipice. The media is restrained, and if we seek genuine freedom, we must rise now.’
Aleema relayed that Imran Khan bore no complaints about his personal treatment in jail but reiterated his compelling call for demonstrations on August 14, arguing that the rule of law has crumbled. He encouraged PTI leaders to stand resilient, unperturbed by the prospects of arrests or imprisonment.
