The Field General Court Martial has sentenced the former chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Faiz Hameed, to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty on multiple charges, as reported by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.
ISPR’s press release stated that the Court Martial proceedings began on August 12, 2024, under the Pakistan Army Act and continued for 15 months.
According to ISPR, the accused faced four charges: engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act in a way that was harmful to state safety and interest, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals.
Following what ISPR called ‘lengthy and laborious legal proceedings,’ the court found him guilty on all charges. The sentence was enacted on December 11, 2025.
‘All legal provisions were followed by the Field General Court Martial. The accused was given all legal rights, including choosing his own defense team,’ the statement clarified, adding that the convict retains the right to appeal to the relevant forum.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif also reacted to the sentencing, stating that “the nation will, for years to come, reap the harvest of the seeds sown by former Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed and former Army Chief General (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa.”
He made these remarks on the social networking website X, in a statement attached to the ISPR press release regarding Hameed’s sentencing. He added, “May Allah forgive us, and grant us the guidance to consider power and authority as a gift from Allah and use it for the benefit of His creation. May the fear of God become the defining trait of rulers. Amen.”
