Amid rising tensions across the Middle East, Pakistan and China have reiterated a shared pledge to restore calm and stability, launching a renewed push for urgent diplomacy to defuse ongoing confrontations.
During a Friday telephone call, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Officials said the conversation covered the swiftly changing security landscape — notably the conflict involving Iran — and produced a mutual commitment to seek an immediate ceasefire and reopen channels for peace talks.
Posting on X, Dar described the talks as underscoring the imperative to shield civilians from harm, keep vital sea lanes open, and uphold the UN Charter’s core principles. The Chinese Foreign Ministry’s summary noted both sides would “jointly promote a ceasefire and cessation of hostilities” and cooperate to protect non-military sites and vital waterways.
