Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, said on Monday that a new institution is being established with the appointment of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), which will hold significant importance.
In an interview with a private news channel, Rana Sanaullah mentioned that the notification for appointing the Chief of Defence Forces will not be rushed. He stated that once the Prime Minister returns, the notification will be issued at the right time.
He further explained that the Constitution is followed by the law, and then the rules, which are carefully framed. Thus, all these matters will be handled cautiously.
He noted the difference between a matter being under consideration and a decision being made, indicating that different options are evaluated at various times. He added that the CDF’s tenure will start on the day the notification is released, with a five-year term.
Rana Sanaullah made it clear that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif never tried to block the notification for the Chief of Defence Forces, and criticized that his statements are unjustly connected to the issue.
Moreover, he mentioned that a PTI delegation asked for a meeting with the Speaker, where he (Sanaullah) was also present. They were informed that the matter would be presented to the Prime Minister after his return. However, following the delegation’s departure, the Chief Minister of KP issued a threat, which prevented their meeting from being approved.
