Bangladesh achieved their historic first T20I series triumph against Pakistan, emerging victorious in a gripping eight-run win during the second match.
The atmosphere at the bustling Shere Bangla National Stadium reached a fever pitch as the hosts held their nerve against a late, fierce assault by Faheem Ashraf.
Pakistan’s top six batsmen struggled, failing to reach double digits for the entire game, mirroring their previous performance. The lower order, however, sparked a glimmer of hope, as Ashraf led the charge with his first T20I half-century, constructing a crucial 41-run partnership for the ninth wicket alongside Abbas Afridi.
Nevertheless, Bangladesh maintained their composure, especially their trio of pace bowlers—Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tanzim Hasan—who applied relentless pressure on the opposition. This formidable start with the ball set the tone, ultimately securing a well-deserved victory.
For Bangladesh, Sharif Islam took three wickets, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mehidy Hasan took two wickets each, while Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain claimed one wicket apiece.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Salman Agha won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first.
Zakir Ali was the standout performer with 55 runs, followed by Mehidy Hasan with 33; Parvez Hossain Emon with 13; Rishad Hossain with 8; and captain Liton Das with just 8 runs.
For Pakistan, Salman Mirza, debutant Ahmed Daniyal, and Abbas Afridi each took two wickets, while Mohammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf claimed a wicket each.
