
The former Speaker of the Sindh Assembly and senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Agha Siraj Durrani, passed away at a private hospital in Karachi after a long illness.
He was recognized as a loyal member of the PPP and a close associate of the late Benazir Bhutto. Agha Siraj Durrani had also served as Sindh’s Minister for Education and was elected several times as a member of the Sindh Assembly.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over Durrani’s death, honoring his contributions to politics and public service.
President Zardari mentioned that the late leader was pivotal in promoting democratic values. He expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the family and prayed that Almighty Allah grant him eternal peace.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also expressed profound grief over Agha Siraj Durrani’s death, calling him a sincere, loyal, and principled PPP leader who played a significant role in enhancing the Sindh Assembly and democracy.
The CM stated that his contributions will be remembered and prayed for his rank in the hereafter and for his family’s patience.
