In a tragic turn of events, two individuals lost their lives, and 11 others sustained injuries in a devastating explosion that rocked the Killi Mangal area near Quetta in Balochistan, as reported by a police official to media.
Hanna Urak Station House Officer (SHO) Naveed Akhtar revealed that Abdul Salam, a prominent figure and owner of a local coal mine, was the intended target of this heinous attack.
‘An outlawed group attempted to extort money from Salam,’ Akhtar informed Dawn.com. ‘Upon his refusal, around 100 heavily armed assailants descended on his mine, wreaking havoc and destroying the machinery in their wake.’
The SHO further explained that Salam, along with his brother and a group of associates, arrived at the mine only to be ambushed by the assailants, leading to an intense gunfight.
‘Explosives had been strategically placed within the mine by the attackers,’ the SHO elaborated. ‘They retreated before the explosion occurred. Tragically, Salam and his brother fell victim to one of these deadly devices, while 11 others suffered injuries.’
In the wake of the blast, police and security personnel promptly arrived at the scene, meticulously gathering evidence from the site of the crime. SHO Akhtar noted that the assailants were equipped with sophisticated weaponry.
‘Security forces have initiated a comprehensive search operation in the area, though a palpable wave of panic has gripped the community,’ he stated.
