Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Monday during his official visit to Iran. The two leaders engaged in discussions regarding the regional landscape and strategies to enhance bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
President Pezeshkian noted that pressure exerted by the United States had fostered greater unity among Muslim nations. He underscored that Iran and Pakistan could address mutual requirements by leveraging the region’s economic and strategic capabilities more effectively.
Pezeshkian affirmed that Pakistan was dedicated to broadening collaborative efforts with Iran across multiple domains, including commerce, economics, diplomacy, cultural exchange, and scientific advancement.
Prior to this meeting, Naqvi visited Iran’s Ministry of Interior, where he engaged in discussions with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. These conversations addressed bilateral partnerships, recent regional developments, and advancements in ongoing collaborative initiatives between the two nations across diverse sectors.
Momeni commended the initiatives undertaken by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir in advancing regional peace and security. He recognized Pakistan’s sustained commitment to fostering peace in the region and characterized his previous visit to Pakistan as exceptionally fruitful.
Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to fortifying its relationship with Iran and expressed optimism that bilateral ties would experience continued growth in the coming period.
