
As per a notification issued by the Establishment Division, the director general of counterintelligence for the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been appointed with the “approval of the federal government” and will take effect immediately until further notice.
“With the endorsement of the Federal Government, Maj General Faisal Naseer, HI(M), T. Bt & Bar, has been designated as the National Coordinator for NACTA, in accordance with Section 9(1) of the NACTA Act, 2013, on a secondment basis for a duration of three (3) years,” as outlined in JSI-4/85, effective immediately and until further instructions,” the notification indicated.
Established in 2008 under the Ministry of Interior, NACTA is responsible for formulating action plans to combat terrorism and extremism, reporting to the federal government on the execution of these plans, and coordinating the development of comprehensive national strategies for counter-terrorism and counter-extremism.
Previously, NACTA was also assigned the responsibility of executing the 20-point National Action Plan.
