Security forces have eliminated 21 terrorists in various incidents across Balochistan, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operations occurred overnight from August 31 to September 1 in Nokcha, located in the Chagai district, and at Ziarat Cross in the Pishin district. According to ISPR, the terrorists were affiliated with Indian-sponsored groups known as Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij.
Highway attack
On August 31, members of Fitna al-Hindustan attempted to disrupt commuter traffic on the N-40 Quetta-Taftan Highway by setting up an illegal checkpoint for extortion purposes, as stated by ISPR.
In response, security forces acted swiftly, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire that resulted in the deaths of 11 terrorists. A significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also seized from the militants, according to the military’s media wing.
This operation was part of the security forces’ efforts to counter attempts to obstruct public movement and engage in criminal activities along a vital national highway.
Customs House attack
During the night of August 31 to September 1, terrorists from Fitna al-Khawarij executed a coordinated assault aimed at breaching the Customs House, as reported by ISPR.
Security forces countered the attack, killing 10 terrorists in a fierce firefight. The fleeing militants were also pursued by security forces, resulting in additional casualties, according to the statement.
ISPR characterized the attack as indicative of a “terror-crime nexus,” asserting that it was designed to hinder Customs officials from performing their lawful duties and to enable the continuation of criminal activities in the region.
Tragically, six personnel lost their lives during the firefight. ISPR noted that the deceased included two officers and a government official from the Customs Department, honoring them as “brave sons of the soil” who made the ultimate sacrifice in service.
Sanitization operations are ongoing in the surrounding areas to identify and eliminate any remaining terrorists.
