The government has reduced the ex-depot prices of High Speed Diesel (HSD) and Motor Spirit (MS) by Rs1.97 per litre each starting July 4, 2026, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division.
With the revision, the price of HSD has been brought down to Rs309.50 per litre from Rs311.47, while MS will now be sold at Rs297.53 per litre against the previous price of Rs299.50.
The reduction comes after the government kept prices unchanged last week, when both HSD and MS were retained at Rs311.47 and Rs299.50 per litre, respectively.
The cuts comes against the backdrop of a relatively calmer geopolitical environment in the Middle East, which has helped ease pressure on international crude prices in recent weeks.
