Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated on Saturday that the agent mafia, motivated by financial greed, was endangering the future of innocent people and harming the nation’s reputation.
He cautioned that no leniency would be shown to agents who deceive individuals with false job prospects abroad.
Naqvi made an unannounced visit to Islamabad International Airport, spending nearly two hours there. He reviewed the immigration procedures, staff attendance, and passenger issues. During the visit, he also interacted directly with outbound travelers to hear about their experiences and concerns.
Responding to a complaint from a passenger on November 7 about inadequate immigration staff, the minister demanded an immediate investigation and ordered a detailed examination of CCTV footage. He assured that such problems would not continue.
He instructed the immigration officials not to unnecessarily delay passengers with valid documents, while stressing that individuals using fake documents or illegal methods harm the country’s image, and this will not be tolerated.
Ordering a robust crackdown on the visa agent mafia, Naqvi affirmed that these agents prey on innocent people by luring them with false job promises abroad. He emphasized that there would be no leniency for such deceptive agents and stressed that travel without authentic documentation cannot be permitted.
