
At least 17 people lost their lives in separate rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday. Relentless rainfall — ranging from light showers to heavy downpours — was recorded in several districts, including Swat, Bannu, Hangu, Nowshera, Tank, Bajaur, Karak, Parachinar, Malakand, and both North and South Waziristan.
In Abbottabad, the roof of a house collapsed, killing five people and leaving a woman critically injured; four of the deceased were young girls. According to a report from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), rains that began on March 25 have caused roofs and walls to cave in, resulting in 17 deaths and 56 injuries. Of those killed, 14 were children, one was a man, and two were women.
The PDMA also reported damage to 11 houses, with the majority of incidents occurring in Bannu and North Waziristan. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent rainfall in various Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts through Tuesday. Rain was also reported in parts of Punjab, including Sargodha, Bhakkar, Lodhran, Vehari, Chiniot, Hafizabad, and Bahawalpur.
