On Wednesday, Türkiye expressed its strong condemnation of India’s missile strikes on Pakistan, carried out under the cover of darkness.
In a forceful statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry highlighted the grave danger posed by India’s aggression, warning of the peril of all-out war triggered by such ‘provocative’ actions and assaults targeting defenseless civilians.
Ankara underscored its deep concern over the tense developments between the two neighboring countries, urging both Pakistan and India to exercise ‘common sense’ and shun any ‘unilateral actions’ that could exacerbate the situation.
The ministry articulated its hopes for immediate steps to defuse the heightened tensions in the region and called for the establishment of effective mechanisms, particularly in counter-terrorism, to thwart the recurrence of such alarming incidents.
Furthermore, Türkiye backed Pakistan’s demand for a thorough investigation into the terrorist attack of April 22, which took place in the contested region of Indian-administered Kashmir.
The airstrikes conducted by India targeted multiple cities in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, described by India as strikes on ‘nine terrorist locations’.
According to statements from the Pakistani army, these strikes tragically resulted in the loss of 31 lives, with five occurring in Pakistani-administered Kashmir, and left another 46 individuals injured. Indian missiles struck six distinct locations during the assault.
This volatile situation between the nuclear-armed neighbors escalated following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, within Indian-administered Kashmir, where 26 individuals perished. India has laid the blame for this attack on Pakistan, alleging cross-border involvement, which Pakistan has steadfastly denied.
