U.S. President Donald Trump remarked on Monday that Iran finds itself on the losing side of the ongoing conflict with Israel.
He emphasized that Tehran needs to return to the negotiation table ‘immediately.’ Trump acknowledged that the hostilities are ‘painful for both parties,’ yet stressed that ‘Iran is not winning this war, and they should commence dialogue. They need to do so immediately, before time runs out.’
During a press engagement in Canada, while seated for a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump stated, ‘We have always stood firmly by Israel. For a significant duration, our support has been strong, and currently, Israel is doing exceedingly well.’ When queried about the conditions under which the U.S. might consider military involvement, Trump tersely responded, ‘I don’t want to discuss that.’
The regional tensions have escalated dramatically since Friday, following Israel’s coordinated airstrikes targeting numerous sites throughout Iran, including military and nuclear facilities. These strikes have incited Tehran to launch counterattacks.
In response to the heightened aggression, Israeli authorities have reported at least 24 fatalities and numerous injuries from Iranian missile attacks since Friday. Conversely, Iran has stated that at least 224 individuals have died, with over 1,000 more wounded due to the Israeli assault.
