Talibans warns US to withdraw from Afghanistan within a week
The Taliban has given ultimatum to United States to withdraw from Afghanistan within a week.
A Taliban spokesman said that if the US troops will not withdraw from Afghanistan within a week, they would be prepared to suffer the consequences.
The Taliban also said that as long as there is a single US military presence on Afghan soil, no government would be formed.
Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen said the stay of foreign troops in Afghanistan after August 31 would mean an extension of the occupation.
“Fear is not the reason for fleeing Afghanistan,” he said.
On the other hand, the US Department of Defense has signaled an extension of the August 31 deadline for the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said they are trying to evacuate people from Kabul airport and would consider extending the evacuation deadline.
Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had said that he would call on the United States at the G7 summit to extend the deadline for withdrawing troops from Afghanistan from August 31.
